Starting university this year? Freshers' Week is a time-honoured rite of passage for new undergraduates, intended to help break the ice and encourage participation in the social side of scholarship. Read our tips for surviving this induction in space-sharing, sporting initiations and strange societies, and share your own advice in the comments section.
DO Join any society that offers you free stuff. DON'T Sign up for every society or course under the sun. Pace yourself.
DO Get used to eating pasta, cereal and beans on toast for breakfast. DON'T Go too long without eating something that resembles a vegetable.
DO Know when it's your turn to buy a round of drinks. DON'T Blow your student loan in the first fortnight on booze.
DO Phone your mum and dad to let them know how you're doing. DON'T Phone them hungover or when you should be in a lecture.
DO Your laundry. DON'T Save it up for when you get home.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image="16866" img_size="full" alignment="center"][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row]
